Today we kicked of EPIC in the Information Technology Group (ITG). EPIC is for Every Person Is Connected. It refers to the epic sized projects we are taking on this year. It refers to the fact that everyone’s contribution will be needed for success. It also refers to the fact that we are connected as the body of Christ in our calling to fulfill the Great Commission. EPIC will be a series of random small events just to say thank you to the people in ITG for their hard work and dedication. It will also be a serious of regular large events like the kickoff where everyone can come together and relax, fellowship, and have some fun. In preparation for our big kickoff, we did a few weekly small events to show appreciation. We gave out cookies & milk, popped popcorn deskside per team, and gave out Klondike bars. What would you do for a Klondike bar?
The theme for our kickoff was “Hair is Hard”. The graphic above was used on posters and cards with the date & location then posted all over ITG as a promotion. At the event we had pizza & coke, then watched a “behind the scenes making of “The Incredibles” where the studio team talked about how the creation of hair in computer graphics was hard. In fact, realistic acting hair was still “theoretical” when the movie had it’s release date set. As the studio team explained their challenges and triumphs, our team connected with them. In an free form open discussion our team made correlations back to how the clip related to our challenges and triumphs so far in our projects…especially Connect & Care.
We then took a relaxation break by viewing the entire Incredibles movie on the big screens in the main conference rooms at our Lake Hart Headquarters. The movies were VERY funny and it was great to get some downtime with everyone to laugh and connect.
